Operating system-The operating system is group of software which is manage computer hardware, software and memory of computer and Input output device etc. The operating system is type of system software. It creates interface between computer and user.

 

Component of operating system-

 

There are two main part of operating system

 

Kernel-It is core It is the most important of part of operating system. It controls hardware and software function of computer. For example Monolithic Kernel, Micro kernel, Hybrid kernel, etc.

Shell- It is interface between kernel and user. For example, C shell, Korn Shell, etc.

  

  

Function-There are some basic functions of operating system

 

File Management

Process Management

Memory management

Input output management

Device Management

I/O Management

Security

Command interpretation

Storage Management

Networking

Interaction between user and software

 

 

Type

There are type of operating system.

 

Single user operating system- There are only single user work can work at a time.

 

Multi user operating system-

There is multiple user can work at a time. There are a single server and more than one client are connecting from it.

Each of user can work same operating system at time.

 

Embedded

   

Real time operating system-

 

operating system that guarantees to process events or data by a specific moment in time.

 

This kind of operating system Process in certain moment of time

has more than one user at they are connected form. The process must have completed in dealings 

 

Networking Operating system-

This kind of software are use where networking is available. Between two or more than two computers network connect.

More than one user can work at work at a time with networking Operating System.

 

 

Distributed operating system-This kind of operating system like a single operating system but it work multiple computer at time.
