Today is National Engineer Day of India .

 

 The 15 September is also Engineer Day of Sri Lanka and Tanzania.

 

This day is celebrating on birth day of Dr. Mokshagundam Vishveshwaraya.

 

Introduction-

Dr. Sir Mokshagundam Vishveshwaraya was born on 15 September 1881 Mysore Karnataka India. He Was first civil engineer of India. He was a statesman.

  

He started his completed his B.Sc from University of Madras and Diploma in Civil Engineering from University of Bombay through its affiliated institution College of Engineering Puna.

 

Service-

Dr. Mokshagundam Vishveshwaraya was Chief Engineer.

  

(1)Krishna Raja Sagara dam of Mysuru city Karnataka,

Laxmi Talav Dam Kolhapur Maharashtra,

(2)Flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad Andhra Pradesh

(3)Besides all he gave his service in many department of government of India.

 

Awards.

(1)Dr. Mokshagundam Vishveshwaraya was so many awards in his life some of them are given below.

(2)Diwan of Mysore 1912 to 1918.

Diwan is like a Prime Minister.

 

(3)Appointed a Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire (CIE) in 1911.

(4)Knight Commander of the Order of the Indian Empire (KCIE) by the British

 

(5)Honorary degrees including D.Sc., LL.D., D.Litt. from eight universities in India.

 

(6)Bharat Ratna, in 1955

 

Due to his extraordinary service this day is celebrate as Engineering Day in India.
