The 16 June 2013 there flash flood destroyed almost hotels, inn and tents near temple of Baba Kedarnath Temple .

 

Due to this flood thousands of people died and thousands people have missing whom not found till yet.

 

There two main reason first heavy rain in Kedarnath temple and second is wall of Chorabari lake had broken due to heavy rain.

 

This lake is situated from approximately 300 meter above from Baba Kedarnath temple near Chorabari glacier.

This is one of the biggest tragedy in India.

 

The Baba Kedarnath Ji temple one of the most famous temple of lord Shiv and Goddess (Mata) Parvati Ji. Baba Kedarnath Temple is situated near Mandakini River at the height of 3583 Meter above sea level.

This temple is one of the famous Jayotirlinga. There are 12 Jaytorlinga temple of Lord Shiv in India.

Every  year millions of pilgrims visit Baba Kedarnath temple.

Every year this temple close after Diwali and again open in near Akshya Tritiya.

 

How to reach Baba Kedarnath Temple

(1) The pilgrims must first come Haridwar

(2) After  Haridwar to Sonprayag

(3) After Sonnprayag to Gourikund which distance is 5 Kilometer.

(4) After pilgrims must trek from Gourikund to Baba Kedarnath Temple which is approximately 18 Kilometer one side.

 

The tracking can be pedestrian, Pony, Palki etc.

Helicopter facilities also available.
